Dr. Sahlan is an assistant professor and the Research and Community Service Manager at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. He went to Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, studying Biotechnology and Life Science for his master's and doctoral degrees, from 2005 to 2010.
